Come join
the fun at the Family Fun Night, Tuesday, September 9, 6 to 8 p.m. in the
Cafeteria. Silly Safari’s Animal Tour will be here
to
present “Animals with TALES/Celebration God’s Creation!”
Our theme is “Go
on a Safari for Fun Books!” The book fair will also be open during this
time to purchase books.
ISTEP and CTBS
testing
will take place the week of September 15 through 19. Student
attendance is very important. Please make every effort to avoid scheduling
medical appointments, etc. during the testing window. It is difficult to
make up any missed sections of the test. We appreciate your cooperation in
this matter, as children tend to score better when they participate with
their regular classroom teacher and peers.
Sunday Mass:
A gift you can give your family every week.
In the hectic pace of
a busy family, getting to Mass on Sunday can be a struggle. Between soccer
games and scout meetings, dance lessons and play dates, going to Mass is one
more activity competing for precious time. Yet it is the most important
thing you can do for your family all week. Why? Consider some of the ways
your children benefit from weekly Mass. Tradition and security. How
many things do you still do today that you’ve done since you were a small
child? No matter what other changes take place in their lives, the Mass is
a constant to which your children can cling. Children learn by
repetition, through consistency and from example. When Sunday Mass is
part of their regular routine, children learn how to maintain the habit of
weekly attendance. Seeing the importance you place on the habit teaches
them obedience and discipline. Visiting the rest of the family.
When in church, our children are surrounded by the Body of Christ – people
who care about and pray for them. Mass becomes an oasis in an increasingly
hostile world. The week starts with a God-centered focus.
Attending Mass at the beginning of the week helps children learn that God
comes first on Sunday and every day.
Fall Family Festival News – The event
is Saturday, October 4, in the school parking lot from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00
p.m. The Fall
Festival Committee is in need of party tents/canopies for use in the parking
lot. If you have a tent that could be used that day, please contact Jodi
Wood at 944-1914. Thanks!
HOMEWORK TIME:
First Things First – Before he/she starts, help your youngster put his/her
assignments in order. Have you noticed he/she gets more done when he/she
does written work first? If so, he/she can complete his/her math worksheet,
then practice spelling words and, finally, study science. Idea:
Suggest that he/she rank homework from hardest to easiest and tackle the
more complicated work first.
